Below is a quick rundown of what you need to know for upcoming House League Season.
Please make sure your child is properly protected to participate in the sort outs and the upcoming season. Here’s a list of equipment you will need:
Make sure all items are HOCKEY specific.
Sort outs will run from September 10th to 25th, 2016.
It is very important that your child attend sort outs.
This allows us to assess their skills and place them into their appropriate skill level. If your child does not or cannot attend, they will automatically be place in Novice C till they can be further evaluated.
Part-time goalies (½ goalie, ½ player) will participate in BOTH player and goalie sort outs and will be sorted based on their player results.
Full-time goalies - if you designate your child as a full time goalie, they will not be asked to sort as a player and therefore cannot play as a player at anytime throughout the season. If you are undecided about this, it is my recommendation to designate as a part-time goalie. This is actually better for their longer term development.
Teams will be made and distributed to coaches for the October 3-4, 2015 weekend. At this time, friend requests cannot be granted. Your coach will be in contact with each of you and will be your Team Leader throughout the season.
Players may be moved within a division, up or down a division, in order to help balance teams and/or to better suit their skill level.
This can sometime be a difficult period as teams may have early success and/or friendship may be created in the first few weeks, but this is the normal beginning to any House League season and will occur in all the levels above as well. My goal is to have this all finalized by the end of October to try and prevent any extended disruptions. Therefore, please be patient with this part of the process Introduction to House League (Novice) cont.
In addition to your registration fee ($540), each player will be required to contribute to team fees (approx $275-350 per player) that can/will be used towards:
Your Head Coach will be responsible for deciding how the fees will be allocated. If there are any concerns regarding your ability to pay for these fees, please refer to the NMHA Financial Assistance Program.
How can you help? There are several ways. It is up to your Head Coach to assign these roles. Please make sure to approach them about your desire to help out. Keep in mind, all these roles are essential to ensuring a successful season.

Once teams are made, please confer with your Head Coach regarding any issues and they will communicate with the Convener/Director should it be required.
