Tentative Tryout Start Dates for 2013

These dates are posted only to provide NMHA players and parents tentative start times for planning family vacations, hockey camps etc.

The dates will be confirmed in June 2013 when the NMHA receives its 2013-2014 ice allocation from the the City.

Saturday August 17th – Minor Peewee AA, Major Atom AA, Minor Atom A
Saturday August 24th – Major Peewee AA, Minor Bantam AA, Major Bantam AA, Minor Midget AA

Blizzard Challenge Competitive B Division Champions

House League Peewee A HYPE (Team F) rose to the challenge when playing in the Blizzard Challenge in Niagara Falls, NY Competitive B tournament. They entered into the semi finals in 1st place after beating Rochester Youth Minor Peewee AA (2-1) and then defeating Olean Arrows Minor Peewee A (4-0). Our boys continued their winning streak in a nail biting semi finals game versus the undefeated Hamilton Spitfires Major Peewee B (5-3).

The championship game had Nepean HYPE battle Rochester Minor Peewee AA again. This time, Rochester performed stronger and faster than they did before. But they were outmatched to the hardest working, determined players of Nepean HYPE. The boys celebrated their victory while singing O Canada at centre ice.

Atom A Team A Avengers Division Champs of the Oakville Frank Sabatino Memorial Tournament

The Avengers entered the semi-finals after being undefeated in the 16 team tournament only to be eliminated after a hard fought game to the number one ranked team. The team did not go away empty handed. Goaltender for the Avengers, Amin Zeina, was awarded the tournament sportsmanship award which “recognizes a player that throughout the tournament, best exemplifies the principles of fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship.” Congratulations to Amin, his teammates and coaches!

Bantam B Nepean Pirates - Finalists in Bradford

In their First tournament of the season, the Bantam B Nepean Pirates were finalists at the Bradford Blue and Gold Classic Tournament. After loosing their 1st game to Erindale 5-4, the Pirates turned it around in their final 3 games, a 2-2 tie against Woolrich, 2-1 win against North Bay and in the semi's getting revenge against Erindale with a 2-0 win. In a hard fought finals, against 1st place Kitchener, the Pirates gave it all they had, but lost 1-0 in double overtime.

Major Bantam B Team wins tournament

Congratulations to the Nepean Raiders Major Bantam B team that won the 9th Annual Winter Classic Tournament January 11th-13th at the Bell Sensplex. After going 3-0 in the round robin and earning a bye, the team won a double-overtime game in the semi-finals against the host Kanata Blazers. In the final, the team shut out the Gloucester-Orleans Blues 3-0. Coach Ron and his staff are thrilled for the players and their supporters.

NMHA Volunteer Appreciation Night

The NMHA will be holding their volunteer appreciation night on Saturday February 2, 2013 at the Walter Baker Centre in Halls A and B starting at 7:30 PM.

Refreshments will be served (food and bar), Live Entertainment featuring "Sidewinder" from 8:00 PM till midnight, Plus great door prizes.

There is NO cost for the tickets and food.

Plan on attending a great evening to thank our tireless volunteers.

Team managers are asked to pick up tickets at the NMHA hockey office. Note: Eight (8) tickets per team.

Minor Midget AA Champs at Capital New Year's Tournament

Congratulations to the Nepean Raiders Minor Midget AA team who won their third consecutive tournament. They won the Annual Capital's New Years Tournament Jan 6th at Sensplex. After going 2-1-0 in the round robin they pulled off the Double OT win in the semis over the North Bay Trappers. Then went on to shut out the Gloucester Rangers 3-0 in the final. The coaches are very proud of the effort put forth by all the players. Congratulations to our other NMHA Midget teams who came away Champions too!

Midget B team went undefeated at the Annual Capital's New Year's Tournament

Congratulations to the Minor Midget B team that went undefeated in the Annual Capital's New Year's Tournament held at the Sensplex. The boys played hard and had 34 goals for and only 5 goals against!! Both goalies recorded shutouts in the tournament. Every player on the team contributed and earned at least one point in the tournament. This really was a team effort. Special thanks to our coaches for getting us here. Congratulations and Congratulations to our two other NMHA Midget teams (Minor Midget AA and Major Midget B) who also won their divisions.

Bantam A Team D - Leitrim Bantam President's Cup Champions

The Bantam A Team D boys were the winners of the Leitrim Bantam President's Cup One Day Tournament on Dec. 27th. They won all 3 of their round robin games to place 1st overall and then won the Final in a lengthy shoot out after tying the game 3-3 with less than a minute left! Congratulations and keep up the hard work!
