NMHA Full Day High Performance Goalie Camp - August 6-10 2012, Nepean Sportsplex 2

Featuring Greg Scott, NHMA goalie mentor.

This intensive camp is designed for those already in the competitive stream or wanting to prepare for competitive stream.

• 3.0 hours on ice daily (1.5 hr. AM and PM) with technical build ups, situational analysis and game situation applications;
• 1.5 hour technical/tactical breakdowns, video analysis and comprehensive stretching routines daily;
• 1.5 hour physical/mental skills training daily;

Maximum of 16 goalies with a 3:1 pupil to instructor ratio.

Midget AAA and older will act as shooters.

Anecdotal report card featuring strengths, areas of improvement and next steps to focus on for try-outs.

Cost is $600

NMHA Goalie Pre-tryout Prep Camp August 11-17, 2012 Walter Baker

9.0 hours on ice technical skills, game situation drills and drills specific to the NMHA goaltender try-out evaluation.

Maximum of 16 goalies per group.

Midget AAA and older will act as shooters.

Cost is $350.

NMHA All-Star Skating Camp - May 29 - August 2, 2012 - Walter Baker

This program will be of interest to highly motivated players at the Novice (2003), Minor Atom (2002) and Major Atom (2001) at the B, A, and AA levels.

This intense on-ice program will be demanding for better performance.

Acceleration, balance and a continuum of power skating principles will enhance the player´s skill level with stick handling and shooting mixed into the program.

Limited to 24 players and 4 goaltenders.

Note: Dates and times vary for this program. Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. There will be 19 on-ice sessions for this program.

Cost is $350.

NMHA Full Day High Performance Hockey Camp August 13-17 2012, Nepean Sportsplex 2

This camp combines fundamental on and off ice hockey skills and knowledge with athletic fun and structured recreation for players aged 8-14.

• 2.5 hours on ice daily with individual skating, puck handling, passing and shooting skills.
• Friday PM scrimmages.
• Complimentary activities include:
  • swimming at Sportsplex pool.
  • daily recreational games.
  • daily hockey specific off-ice physical training conducted by a certified fitness trainer
  • daily video session.
  • Friday pizza lunch.

Maximum of 24 skaters and 4 goalies on ice per group with a 4:1 pupil to instructor ratio.

Midget and older Counselors.

Cost is $450.

NMHA Full Day High Performance Defenseman

This camp will be focused on the development of the special skills required for defensemen aged 8-14. The camp will emphasize defensive-style power skating, defensive-style puck control, passing and receiving as well as shooting. Defensive responsibilities will be emphasized in each zone of the ice.

• Minimum 2.5 hours on ice daily
• Complimentary activities include:
  • swimming at Sportsplex pool.
  • daily recreational games.
  • daily hockey specific off-ice physical training conducted by a certified fitness trainer.
  • daily video session.
  • Friday pizza lunch.

Maximum of 24 skaters.

Bantam/Midget Pre-tryout Conditioning Camp - August 18-24, 2012 Walter Baker Centre

This camp is for players looking to prepare themselves for the bantam/minor midget tryouts that start August 27, 2012. Emphasis on this camp will be conditioning and flow drills for players wanting to improve their conditioning and sharpen their skills prior to the start of tryouts. Ice sessions will be Saturday and Sunday during the day and every evening Monday through Friday.

Cost is $300.

NMHA Full Day Goalie Development Camp - July 23rd to July 27th 2012, Nepean Sportsplex 2

Directed by Ken Lothian - NMHA Goalie Mentor

The camp is designed to improve your skill level in a competitive but enjoyable atmosphere. This camp is not intended as a high performance camp.

• This camp will run from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and the Nepean Sportsplex Rink 2.
• Each group will have a head councilor as well as shooters from the Midget AA players or older.
• Each camp will include two 1.5 hour on ice sessions per day (total 3 hours on ice per day) .
• Players will also be instructed on off ice exercises to improve their overall goalie experience.
• Instruction on proper warm up with specific goalie stretches and movements.
• All players will receive an NMHA T shirt, which they must bring with them each day.
• Each player will also require runners and shorts for outdoor training and a substantial healthy lunch with a water bottle for each day.
• Only 16 goalies will be accepted per session so space is very limited.

Cost is $425.

NMHA Full Day Player Development Camp July 30th to August 3rd, Sportsplex 2 (Week 1)

Directed by Alex Sperberg, Sperberg Pro Skating Systems

Each group will have an overall Camp Manager, head counselor for each group and assistant counselors.

This camp will run from Monday and Wednesday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and Tuesday Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm the Nepean Sportsplex Rink 2.

• incorporates on ice conditioning as well as power skating and off ice dry land training to improve overall player development in an enjoyable atmosphere.
• includes two one-hour sessions of on ice training.
• all players will receive an NMHA T shirt, which they must bring with them each day.
• Each player will also require a swimsuit for the pool, runners and shorts for outdoor activities such as soccer and baseball and a substantial healthy lunch with a water bottle for each day.

Maximum of 20 players 4 goalies accepted for each group (3 groups total)

Cost is $425.

NMHA Conditioning Camp (Dates to be Determined)

Directed by Alex Sperberg, Sperberg Pro Skating Systems

Each player receives five one-hour ice sessions spread out from the end of August to mid-September.

The main purpose of this camp is to prepare for house league sort-outs in mid-September.

This camp concentrates on drills to improve your game and incorporates power skating skills.

Cost is $140.

Goalie Conditioning Camp (Dates to be Determined)

Directed by Ken Lothian, NMHA Goalie Mentor

Each player receives four ninety minute on-ice sessions from end of August to mid-September.

Objective of the camp is to improve goalie skills for house league sort-outs.

Cost is $150.

Power Skating Clinic (Dates to be Determined)

Directed by Alex Sperberg, Sperberg Pro Skating Systems

Course takes place from mid-September to end September.

• Each player receives 5 one-hour sessions in power skating.
• The objective of the program is to improve the player´s speed and agility.

This course is not intended for new players learning to skate.

Cost is $140.

HockeyFest 2012

The 3 Minor Atom competitive teams will be hosting HockeyFest 2012 April 6, 2012. This is a one-day event where players from Novice (2003 and 2004 birth years) are mixed with players from the three Minor Atom competititve teams for a series of fun 4-on-4 games followed by pizza and drinks for the players. Coffee will be available for the parents.

Members of the Competititve Committee will be on hand to provide information on the competitive program, how tryouts operate or answer any other questions that may arise.
