Nepean Edging – (Competitive Power Skating)

Directed by Bob Byrnes, NMHA Competitive Program Director of Hockey Development

Novice and Atom players – Tuesday May 28- Tuesday July 30 at the Walter Baker Centre
Peewee and Bantam players – Thursday May 30 – Thursday August 1 at the Walter Baker Centre
Please note that the weekly one hour sessions will vary from 5:30-6:20pm and 6:30-7:20pm

Instructors: Shelley Kettles and Mary Yarush– professional figure skating instructors from Edgeworks

This is a highly developed program with a total emphasis on skating and edging. The program will be of interest to competitive hockey players who are highly motivated to improve their skating technique. The player will develop foot speed, power, balance and agility. Each player will be videotaped and this will be used as a learning tool for these sessions.

NOTE: Limited enrolment of 20 for each group.

Instructors: Shelley Kettles and Mary Yarush - professional figure skating instructors from Edgeworks.

The program will emphasize skating, edge work, balance, agility and foot speed. Each player will be videotaped and this will be used as a learning tool for these sessions. There will be a limited enrolment of 20 per group.

High Performance Hockey Skills

Instructor: Fred Parker - Scout for Calgary Flames, NMHA coach, former coach OHL Kitchener Rangers, Clarkson University, Carleton University.

This program will emphasize puck control, passing and shooting. There will be a limited enrolment of 20 per group.

High Performance Conditioning Camps For Competitive Hockey Players

This camp will consist of 4 different time slots

Group 1 (Peewee and Bantam) – 8:30am – 10:30 am – August 12- August 16 at Nepean Sportsplex Rink 2
Group 2 (Peewee and Bantam) – 10:30am – 12:30 pm – August 12- August 16 at Nepean Sportsplex Rink 2
Group 3 (Novice and Atom) – 1:30pm – 3:00pm – August 12- August 16 at Nepean Sportsplex Rink 2
Group 4 (Novice and Atom) – 3:00 pm – 4:30pm – August 12 – August 16 at Nepean Sportsplex Rink 2

This program will emphasize on ice conditioning combined with skating, quick feet, striding, balance, agility and speed as well as puck control, passing and shooting. The skating instructors will work with players in the morning on Monday and Wednesday and in the afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday. Each player will be videotaped and this will be used as a learning tool for these sessions. Enrolment will be limited to 25 per group.

Bantam/Midget Conditioning Camp

Directed by Bob Byrnes, NMHA Competitive Program Director of Hockey Development

Saturday Aug. 17 to Friday August 23 at Walter Baker Centre

This camp is for players looking to prepare themselves for the Bantam/Minor Midget try outs. Emphasis will be placed on conditioning and flow drills for players wanting to improve their conditioning and sharpen their skill prior to the start of try outs. Ice sessions will be Saturday and Sunday during the day, and every evening Monday through Friday – total ice time 16 hours.

HockeyFest 2013

REGISTRATION CLOSED – EVENT FULL

The NMHA will be hosting the 2013 edition of HockeyFest on March 29, 2013 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and hosted by our three minor atom competitive teams. HockeyFest is a program for graduating players from Initiation as well Novice players for a series of fun 4-on-4 games followed by pizza and drinks for the players. Coffee will be on hand for the parents.

Members of the Competitive Committee will be on hand to answer any questions parents may have regarding competitive hockey and the tryout process.

Cost is $35.

NMHA Raiders Full Day Summer/Fall Camps 2013

Directed by Sperberg Pro Skating

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE SUMMER CAMPS.

POST DATED CHEQUES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Due to ice shortage the NMHA will be running only two one week full day camps this summer and we will be unable to offer a house league Goalie Camp.

The first week is Monday July 29th to Friday August 2nd 2013.

The second week is Monday August 19th to Friday August 23rd 2013.

The camp will be offered to Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam players.

Fee: $425 per week.

This camp will run from Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:00 pm at the Walter Baker Centre.

Pre 7:30am and post to 4:30pm Daycare provided each day at no additional charge.
You must check in with staff at check in table on arrival and departure. Please leave a contact number with the check in staff member. If your child has brought money for their lunch they give it to the staff for safe keeping.
All campers must bring a water bottle.
All campers will receive an NMHA T shirt on their arrival the first day and are asked to have it washed and worn each day. If additional t shirts are required they are available for $10 each Each camper must also bring shorts, runners, a bathing suit, towel, their hockey equipment and stick plus and extra old stick for ball hockey if they have one.
Players are instructed by Alex Sperberg, our Coach Mentor and Power Skating Instructor who is a Nationally Certified power Skating Coach and runs his own company called Sperberg Pro Skating Systems.
The staff will ensure that your child has any help they require in putting on equipment, and getting ready for all other activities.
Along with specialized hockey instruction, your child will also receive power skating.
Each player will players will receive a personal report card assessing strengths and weaknesses at the end of their one or two week camp.
